Molson Coors Hands Account to ZenithOptimedia

After a final 2-way pitch with MediaCom, ZenithOptimedia has been handed the £15 million media planning and buying account for Molson Coors. ZenithOptimedia will be responsible for all the brands, including Carling, Grolsch and Coors Light.Molson Coors will continue to work with Vizeum, the current incumbent, until the end of 2009.

Pender's Piece....

It seems as the industry has picked up, so has recruitment of SEO and PPC. However, as companies loosen the purse strings, promotions are rife and lots of movement internally is happening day by day. This means in turn that many people are now genuinely happy, receiving the roles they want and packages they want. Which provides us with a familiar scenario I have not encountered for some time: candidate’s roles and salary expectations are extremely high! The candidates you may have previously employed for 20-25k now are looking at packages of 30k plus with bags of opportunities for progression. Have people forgotten about the recession?! It all seems to be about the money again- but for how long you have to ask?

Clients have managed to lower their expectations and start to be realistic but do we now have the dilemma of unrealistic candidates?

Bing's Full UK Launch Put Back

It is widely rumoured that Microsoft will delay the full UK launch and marketing activity for their search engine, Bing. The launch may well be put back to the middle of 2010. Having flirted with the site at BD, the search results have often not been relevant enough to the UK market and thus Google appears to still be the favoured choice. With over £60 million spent on advertising the site in the US, the UK can expect major investment next year once improvements have been made.

William Hill Begins Pitching Process

Having experienced agency work with Manchester-based BJL’s series of TV ads, William Hill are now moving into the outsourcing world once more. Having previously handled marketing activity with its in-house team, the UK bookmaker is now approaching agencies about its £5 million advertising account. Pitches are expected to take place in the next two weeks.

BPI Hand Carat Media Account

Beaute Prestige International have handed Carat their entire global media planning and buying responsibilities. Carat took the account from MPG and will now have responsibilities for perfume brands such as Issey Miyake and Jean Paul Gaultier.
